Today, we are going to talk about music. We think that the most music that we listen in Spain is American. We love american music!!!! For exemple, we listen Red Hot Chili Peppers, One Republic, Avril Lavigne and Simple Plan. Because, in Spain they are very famous.

The cathedral

Santa María de León Cathedral, also called The House of Light or the Pulchra Leonina is situated in the city of León in north-west Spain. It was built on the site of previous Roman baths of the 2nd century which, 800 years later, the emblematic king Ordoño II converted into a palace. Its doors, its impressive rose window, the choir (one of the oldest in the country) and the delicacy of some figures, like the venerated Virgin Blanca presiding over the constant traffic of visitors, are some of the not-to-be-missed features of this cathedral.

The León Cathedral, dedicated to Santa María de la Regla, was declared of Cultural Interest in 1844. It is known as the Pulchra Leonina and it is a masterpiece of the Gothic style dominating the mid 13th century, by master architect Enrique. By the late 16th century it was virtually completed.

One of the most attractive features is the main front, with two towers (the south one known as the 'clock tower'). The interior represents a beautiful combination of architecture, painting, sculpture and other arts. It must not be forgotten that the Renaissance retrochoir contains alabaster sculptures and that the choir was built by three great artists: Jusquin, Copin of Holland and Juan de Malinas. Particularly noteworthy is the Plateresque screen in the wall behind the sepulchre of King Ordoño.

Musac

The MUSAC, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Castilla y León, located in the city of León, was created with the aim of becoming a Museum of the Present. The activities it will generate shall encompass current creation.



The museum aims to become a fundamental piece in the development of Contemporary Art on a national and international scope. It maintains a broad experimental outlook when conceiving and developing exhibitions and projects in all levels.The MUSAC focuses exclusively on the present time, influenced by recent memory. The museum is based on the idea of developing a new behaviour when approaching 21st century art. The latter years of the past century represent the beginning of a time frame that acts as a starting point. In this way, the MUSAC introduces itself as a clear exponent of a new cultural stage, in which aesthetic values and artistic behaviour that were considered revolutionary in the past have already become well-established. As a Museum of the Present or Museum of the 21st Century, the MUSAC shall assume the responsibility of projecting itself in a field, which, like all experiments, entails an ample amount of risk.The museum was constructed with the aim of being a place for interrelations, where the public is no longer a mere passive element that observes. Workshops talks, meetings with artists, educational guides and works that interact with the spectator are some of the essential elements in the activity of the MUSAC, which shall stand as a new reference for museums in the present panorama of contemporary art.

The University of León was founded in 1979, with its Veterinary and Education Faculties dating back to 1850.

The University of León offers academic programs in both undergraduate and graduate levels in 13 Faculties or schools grouped into 4 categories:

Law and Social Sciences: Business Studies and Finance, Law, Education, Labour Studies, Social Work Studies and Physical Education and Sport

Health and Experimental Sciences: Veterinary, Biology and Nursing

Humanities: Philosophy and Letters.

Technical Sciences: Agricultural Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Informatics, and Mining Engineering

ON THE CAMPUS!

RECTOR:

Located in the heart of the city in the old building of Veterinary Medicine, suitably transformed and modernized, have installed the flag of government, with the rectory and Services Administration

Moreover, it has enabled classrooms, exhibition halls, auditoriums and other facilities for congresses, conferences and various cultural activities. A resident of teachers complete the fate of this unique building, remodeling, remained in the city to offer the company as Leon cultural activities scheduled by the University, apart from the specific Colleges and Schools.

The inauguration of the final stage adaptation of this vast building took place with a brilliant academic event, which was attended by nine principals and the regional authorities, provincial and local governments, on December 18, 1989.

CAMPUS PONFERRADA:

Located in the city of Ponferrada to 110 km. West of Leon, Ponferrada Campus is one of the bets for the future of the University of Leon

He has degrees very attractive to students, such as Forest Engineering, Agricultural Engineer: Specialty Agriculture and Food Industries, Nursing, Physiotherapy, Film and Visual Arts, all furnished with modern equipment and services.

Began teaching in the course deliver 96/97 in the building of the former hospital "Camino de Santiago."
